Im adrift on the ocean
With a tsunami of emotion
Huge waves of empathy
Like it was sent for me
It’s a sea of despair
And no lifeguard is near
To pull you to safe land
To lend a helping hand
Floating over the unknown
Feeling powerless and alone
As you make it over the first wave
Thinking I’m about to be save
There comes another one
So huge it blocks out the sun
I’m battered and tossed around
Feeling the weight pulling me down
It feels so hard to breathe
If only life came with a manual to read
Wave after wave comes crashing
My mental state has taken a bashing
No land in sight to see
The sun trapped and can’t break free
From the dark
On my soul the storm left its mark
Nothing I could do but lay there
All defenseless and bare
It’s overwhelming the fear
Watching the storm as it comes near
No time to prepare
You could feel the disaster in the air
The atmosphere is building
In my lungs, fear is filling
Making it difficult to breathe
Almost impossible to succeed
Throwing punches at the waves
Hoping it caves
And allows you to come up
And get a breath of air
But the storm doesn’t care
So I remain under the tide
Hoping the worst of it I could out ride
While I wait for the pain to subside
That’s why away from the storm I hide
